A strategic facility to supply the North American market. The Forane® refrigerants we produce are used as coolants in air conditioners and refrigeration equipment. They are also used in insulation for transportation, appliances, and construction. Opened in 2007, the world-scale Calvert City HFC-32 refrigerant production plant will benefit from the technological experience of the Zaramillo HFC-32 production plant launched successfully in Spain in 2003. With this capacity addition, Arkema's Calvert City plant will become the world's largest HFC-32 production site, benefiting from proven technology, an ideal location to supply the North American market, and experienced personnel. The project confirms Arkema's commitment to environmentally sound new-generation refrigerants.
Pierre Benite, France
Arkema's Pierre-Benite site is an important player in the Chemical Valley south of Lyon, since it includes a production site, a research and development (CRRA), a Technical and Administrative Computing Center, and a sales office. It contributes to the innovation and economic dynamism of the Rhône-Alpes region. The plant site is located in the Rhône (69), south of Lyon; the Arkema plant Pierre-Benite employs about 400 people, on a site of 33 hectacres. The plant has a rich history of more than a century since the first production at the site in 1902. It uses a wide range of manufacturing processes, which can currently produce thirty different products. It has a strong ability to adapt, dropping CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) substitutes for HFA (hydrofluoroalkane). The plant also has a strong synergy with the R & D and engineering departments, which are present in Pierre Benite.

Arkema (Changshu) Fluorochemical Co., Ltd., established in June 1996, has been the first foreign-invested company dedicated to the chemistry of hydrofluoric acid and CFC substitutes in China. The plant, which started up in May 2000, has a production capacity of 20,000 MT Anhydrous Hydrofluoric Acid (AHF) and 35,000 MT FORANE® 22. Further developments are now under construction.
