Why should I retrofit R-22 to R-427A?

The availability of R-22 is decreasing but the usable life of many existing R-22 systems could continue for many years.  R-427A is a proven solution that many technicians throughout the USA have made their go to retrofit refrigerant. 

 

Unlike R-407C, which requires POE oil, R-427A has the added benefit of R-143a, which helps aid mineral oil return in most system layouts. Due to its close mass flow rate to R-22, expansion device modifications are unlikely. R-427A’s capacity provides comparable cooling even at high ambient conditions. R-427A was commercialized in 2005 and has been used globally in varied applications.
